last friday I finished my 4 weeks of work in Friendship Village in Tay Mo - Ha Noi
4 weeks of a lot of fun with the children
2 amazing weekend trips to Sa Pa and Ha Long Bay with other Volunteers
and 2 weekends in Ha Noi City
first of all some of the finest vietnamese food,
Ca Fe sua da = coffee with ice and condensed milk
Cinnamon Buns = okay not so Vietnamese but a dream that came true
Pho Bo = Rice Noodles Soup with Beef
Bun Bo = Rice Noodles with Beef and Peanuts, Fish sauce and Herbs
Vietnamese Pancake = NO words !!
and A LOT of fresh fruits and fruit juices
as well as "friend" rice, milkshare, pancare or smothies !
and there is also some exotic stuff I had to try
It began with frog which tastes like chicken
continued with snake which is okay
a crazy american named John ate the still beating heart of the snake we shared, wouldn't have done that...
and it ended with thit cho.........dog meat......yap, two pieces where enough for me....
the weekend in Sa Pa was very pleasent cause it was not so humid
we went there with the night train from Ha Noi
with 3 swiss girls Anne, Sonja and Anna,
Ric, the Australian (he is actually Austrian but doesn't know it,
the real Austrian Julia and the belgian Valentine
we went to two amazing markets, one surrounded by rice fields in the middle of nowhere
climbed a mountain with amazing rice terraces, met a LOT of Vietnamese people and drank wice rine and rice wine with them and, off course, got married a couple of times
we also rented motorbikes to find even MORE rice fields and found them,
I was driving and I loved it !!!
Ha Long Bay was like heaven on earth, a small paradise
I went with Alice the African English and Jen THE american
we slept one night on a boat, went kayaking, met ring and rang and jumped from the boat into the ocean
the second night we slept on Monkey Island,
an island with nothing else than the resort, beach and unfortunately jellyfishes, I got a little closer with one...aua!
the rest of the time we spent with swimming, playing volleyball, drinking oreo speedwagons and POOL
Alice and me still can't decide who is worse in it, but we practiced a lot !!!
the life in Ha Noi city brings a lot of food with it and too much shopping
and I had a great last night on friday before I left to go to the south on saturday
short stop in Hue where it already is hotter and arriving in the evening in Hoi An !
a town famous for its millions of tailors =)
backpack, water, sunglasses, camera... there we go !
